BBC 1 Presentation   1969 - 1974

This section takes a look at the presentation on BBC 1 between 1969 and 1974.

The first look would be in black and blue, most of the country was still viewing programmes in black and white due to the huge expense of getting a colour set. Black and blue were chosen because they would look ok still for the majority still watching in black and white.

This was the first ident on BBC 1 to be in colour. This was a mechanical model and was filmed in monochrome with the colour being added electronically at transmission. This meant the ident could be altered to change the look by changing the colour (somehing they would do over the next decade or so).
