Idents and Continuity 1991-1997

Welcome to our section about the idents and continuity used on BBC 2 between 1991 and 1997

With a change of controllers of the channel taking place the new boss Alan Yentob came to the conclusion that the old TWO idents were dull and the channel needed a revamp. Lambie-Nairn, who would also produce the BBC 1 globe, were commissioned to create some new idents for the channel. The new idents would consist of 11 idents, the first to be shown was called "Paint" which first appeared at 2.45pm on the 16th February 1991, the same day that the BBC 1 ident was changed.

There was also a clock that went with the ident which was mostly used at closedown. The clock had the same green colour scheme as the idents and would be shrunken in size during its first year on screen (much in the same way as the one on BBC 1 had been)
