Breakfast Time 1983-1986

Welcome to our section about the presentation used on Breakfast Time between 1983 and 1986

Breakfast Time was the first nationwide breakfast television programme in the UK, it was to beat it's rival TV-am on the air by two weeks (TV-am launched on the 1st February 1983).There had been an earlier breakfast TV service on the other side called Good Morning Calendar in 1977 however this was only short lived and only available in the Yorkshire Television region.

Breakfast Time was sofa driven and was presented by Frank Bough and Selina Scott, it would be seen to be a more relaxed style of show than its ITV rival who suffered as a result. By the mid 1980s changes were on the horizon with a move to a more structured desk based service.
