KATE ADIE

Kate Adie joined the BBC in 1976 first working on regional news before joining the national news teams in 1979. She made her name covering the Iranian hostage siege in 1980, this lead to her being sent to conflicts and natural disastsers all over the world. By 1989 she was the corporation's lead correspondant, a position she held until the time she left in 2003.
