1924 - 2012
Kenneth Kendal joined the BBC as a radio newsreader in 1948 and joined television news in 1955, becoming the first to be seen on screen (previously the newsreader read the news over still images). He left the corporation in 1961 to work on other projects rejoining in 1969 and remained as a newsreader until 1981. Kenneth was also a presenter on religious programme Songs of Praise and host on Channel Four's Treasure Hunt.
