THEME TUNE OPENING THEME
(Spoken)

This is a story about an ordinary teddy bear...
When he was made, they found something wrong with him...
And threw him away like a piece of rubbish into an old dark storeroom...
Then, from outer space, a spotty man, brought him to life with his cosmic dust!

He took him to a magic cloud where Mother Nature gave him special powers...
That bear became Superted!

CLOSING THEME

A scarlet suit, a flowing cape.
A magic word, a secret change.

But when his cape is spread,
He's Superted,
Superted,
Super-ted!

Who's the bear,
Shoots through the air,
Like a streak of red?
Superted, Superted
Superted
Superted!

HELD IN THE BRITSET ARCHIVES Series 1 - Complete

SuperTed was a children's annimation about a teddy bear which was disguarded due to a fault in the factory, the bear was sent down to a dusty old storeroom and abandoned. The bear was visited by a spotty man (voiced by Jon Pertwee) who came from a distant planet who brought the teddy bear to life. He later took the bear to Mother Nature who gave him super powers.

The enemy of SuperTed was Texas Pete (voiced by Victor Spinetti) and his sidekicks Bulk (Roy Kinnear) and a skeleton called well Skeleton (voiced by Melvyn Hayes) who would get involved in various schemes. SuperTed (voided by Derek Griffiths) would whisper a secret word which would start his transformation from a normal bear (although one which could speak) to one with super powers.

The show started off on the Welsh language channel S4C and was originally produced in Welsh first being aired on their first day on the 1st November 1982. The show was later being redubbed in English when it was re-aired on BBC 1. The show's creator, Mike Young, turned down other offers for the show as he wanted to be produced and remain in Wales.
