Bless This House was a situation comedy staring Sidney James as family man Sid Abbot. Sid was a travelling salesman who lived with his wife and two adult children and believed he was a man of the world, he liked the pub and supporting Arsenal but would ahve to sneak out to see them. His wife Jean was no fool and could see through the schemes that Sid was up to. His children were Sally and Mike who were far more knowledgeable about the world than their father.
Next door lived Trevor and Better, Trevor was Sid's best friend and they were scheming together on many ocassions, Betty was Jean's and was much dislked by Sid.
The first seven episodes were shot in black and white due to a colour strike across ITV at the time
The series came to an end in 1976 following the death of Sid James four days after the finale to series 6 was aired. There had been plans for another two series and another feature fim.
