Please Sir! was a comedy written by John Esmonde and Bob Larby (who would go on to write other great comedies including The Good Life). It starred John Alderton as Bernard Hedges, a newly qualified teacher working in the ficticious Fenn Street Secondary Modern school.

There was a spin off show called The Fenn Street Gang which happened during the final series and featured the people in that original class alongside Hedges who had left the school by that time, The Fenn Street Gang ran for 47 episodes. Another spin off called Bowler staring George Baker was
