Inspector Morse is a crime drama set in Oxford about a music loving and generally sophisitcated detective inspector Morse. The show stared John Thaw in the lead role and his sidekick Lewis (Kevin Whately) and was based on the novels of Colin Dexter. The show featured classical music and a very impressive theme created by Barrington Pheloung who produced a orchestral number which featured morse code spelling out the name Morse.

The show had a spin off (Lewis staring Kevin Whately) and later a prequal caled Endevour which showed us Morse when he first started out in the police (Endevour being Morse's first name). Endevour also uses the same theme music as morse
